Why students fail ACCA AA
Unlike PM, FR, or TX, AA has no complex calculations. Yet its pass rate is not significantly higher. Candidates fail for one consistent reason: generic answers. AA Section B requires specific, scenario-linked audit procedures — not textbook definitions of what auditors do in general. Writing "verify the invoice" earns one mark. Writing "inspect purchase invoices for inventory acquired near the year-end to confirm cut-off is correctly applied and goods were received before the period end" earns two.

Section B questions require professional written responses that follow a clear format — identifying the risk, explaining its audit implication, and stating the specific procedure.
